Just a few decades ago, straight teeth were more of a cosmetic luxury. Since then, modern dentistry has revealed the many health benefits of a straight smile, making braces both an esthetic and oral health benefit.
Evenly aligned teeth are easier to clean and come together more harmoniously for a healthy bite. Good alignment can also make the jaw joints more comfortable and reduce the issues that arise from jaw joint dysfunction, also called TMD.
Why Choose Clear Braces
Many of our adult patients never had an opportunity for braces as children; others may have but were not diligent about wearing their retainers. We understand; this happens a lot. We are here to help with adult orthodontics that fit into your busy life.
Wearing brackets and wires for several months to a couple of years often does not appeal to our adult patients. This is why we offer clear braces, which go by the popular names of Invisalign and ClearCorrect, for discreet, yet effective, orthodontic treatment.
How Invisalign and ClearCorrect Work
Clear aligners, although they go by different brand names, function much the same way. Rather than brackets attached to teeth and an adjustable wire, a series of clear, BPA-free custom trays will gradually move teeth into alignment.
In some cases, small tooth-colored buttons, called attachments, will assist the trays in moving teeth. No one will notice them during the orthodontic process unless you point them out. Once treatment is over, we will remove them and polish the teeth.
Each set of aligners brings your teeth and smile closer to perfection. Although based on science, part of the magic of clear braces is that you can see the progress throughout. Your clear aligners will disappear in photos and have a minimal impact on that Facebook selfie or Instagram post.
Compliance Is Key
We recommend Invisalign and ClearCorrect for adult patients and compliant teens. Because the trays are removable, you will need to follow the instructions given by your Invisalign dentist to keep treatment timely and effective.
- Wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day.
- Remove them to eat or drink hot liquids.
- Keep them clean with appropriate cleansers.
- Keep pets away from the aligners.
- Wear each set of trays for about two weeks.
- Maintain your routine check-ups and cleanings.
- Schedule orthodontic appointments on time.
In addition to being nearly invisible, clear aligner braces are comfortable and make caring for your teeth during treatment incredibly easy. Just pop your aligners out of your mouth and brush and floss normally.
